Second Level Appeal Process

THE TUITION, HOUSING, DINING APPEALS COMMITTEE

The Tuition, Housing, Dining (THD) Appeals Committee was established to consider student requests after the student is denied their request by the individual department where the charge originated.

When a student is informed that their first level appeal was denied, they have the opportunity to request that their appeal be considered by the THD Appeals Committee. Important second level appeal information, including the next committee meeting deadline, is included in a student’s first level appeal denial email, which is sent to a student’s University email address. The student should follow directions outlined in their denial letter if they wish to engage the THD Appeals Committee and move forward with a second level appeal. A second level appeal includes submitting the appropriate request form and providing additional supporting documentation to support the student’s extenuating circumstance. Additional supporting documentation must be different from and/or in addition to documentation submitted at the first level and must be submitted in order to be reviewed by the THD Appeals Committee. For example, students may provide a medical note that was not available when submitting a first level appeal. Second level appeals will not be reviewed by the THD Appeals Committee without additional supporting documentaiton. Please note: Personal statements will not be accepted as additional documentation. Students are encouraged to review documentation criteria carefully for examples.

It is the student’s responsibility to turn in additional documentation. This documentation may be attached to a student’s second level appeal request form, faxed to the THD Support office (704-687-7648), or emailed to thdsupport@charlotte.edu.

The THD Appeals Committee’s decision is final.

2023-2024 Academic Year THD Appeals Committee Meeting Dates

The THD Appeals Committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month. Students must submit their request form and NEW additional supporting documentation by 5pm on the Thursday prior to the THD Appeals Committee meeting. Requests and/or documentation submitted past the posted deadline will not be considered at that month’s THD Appeals Committee meeting.
